tiffany:

Welcome to Rogue and Wicked. So I bought Ruby a life vest and I know I bought her a life vest and I decided to throw her little corgi ass in the pool and see what would happen, because she hates the water and I tried to throw her in last week and she sunk like a ton of bricks. She hated it Just having it on. And then I had it on her wrong and like the one part was like flipped under her neck and she was like choking to death like she was trying to swim.

wendy:

Oh no, poor Ruby, you didn't tell me that part.

tiffany:

Yeah, so I had to pull it out and, like you know, just like guide her around, because it has like a little handle on the top, so she didn't scratch me, just to give her like some extra exercise. And yeah, so now she's terrified.

wendy:

I was so excited about Tiffany doing this that I called like an hour later and I'm like Auntie wants to know what's going on. And of course I'm dim-witted enough to be like why don't you record it or take pictures? And she's like Wendy, how am I supposed to do that?

tiffany:

Yeah, because it's hard enough getting her in the pool.

wendy:

So, but yeah, I wish I would have seen that. Of course you didn't tell me the part where you didn't put the life jacket on right and it was choking her Poor thing.

tiffany:

Yeah, I'm a hot mess, so it didn't come with instructions, you know.

wendy:

Well, I've you know, I don't know how the humidity has been on your end, but here the humidity has been crazy, and on the first floor, which is where you know my bedroom, is that my bedroom is like a sweaty ball sack when it's humid like this, and so I have a dehumidifier for when this shit happens and the thing tanked on me. So I feel like I've been cleaning that said ball sack like once an hour, and it's so fucking annoying.

tiffany:

Yes, I have an air conditioner unit that has a dry setting on it, so it's like a dehumidifier, but not quite.

wendy:

Oh, wow, yeah, that's, that's great. You know we have three floors and I utilize a floor and a half in my bedroom. The way that it's set up is protect the birds and the Sphinx cat from the dogs and the furry cats. That would well. I can't say that they'll eat the cat, but the birds they definitely would have to be careful with the other two cats and the dog regarding my birds and, rightfully so, their animals, and so, yeah, we have it set up like in that way and the second floor is super fucking hot and the third floor, because all the heat rises, is where we keep all the air conditioning. Here on my floor it's nice and cool, but it is humid as fuck. So the little bit of moisture, I can feel it. I can feel it on the rugs, I can feel it on everything, since I dehumidifier, which I don't keep running all the time is off. Now I can really feel it, but it's extra humid right now, more so than normal.

tiffany:

Yeah, it's been. We've had a heat wave recently, so plus all the rain has been making it wet hot. Yeah, it's like cool.

wendy:

Yeah, that's, oh my god. I thought I said that earlier today because Tiffany and I we've lived in Florida, as we've mentioned before, and you know we bitched about living down there as much as we prefer the warmth to the cold because of that sticky humidity, and that's definitely what it feels like.

tiffany:

Yeah, especially when you like open your front door and you have your sunglasses on. Then all of a sudden, as soon as that heat hits you, you can't see anymore.

wendy:

No, that's how you know. Fucking humid air. Yes, for real, for real, I know it's like, and it's crazy because, like the last week, tiffany and I had most of that time to actually not have to work and and that's our whole household had like at least a portion of that week off, which would have been great if the weather wasn't so crazy, like it was rainy and hot. So it's better than the place, our state, being on fire. So I'm happy that the rain was there to prevent, because God knows without heat, how much shit would have been said to blaze. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah, but still, it's such a combination that I've never in Massachusetts experienced this type of humidity dealing with us.

tiffany:

Not here either, I mean in New Jersey, like that's not normal. Here I mean we do get humid days, but they're not. They're not like that, you know.

wendy:

Right.

tiffany:

Well, it's been like that because we've been getting the same rain like at thunderstorms, lightning every friggin other day it's raining down here. So, yeah, it's like a swamp.

wendy:

Yeah, no, it really is. And then what was it? A month ago, we were dealing with the fires and the smoke.

tiffany:

Yeah, that was causing problems too, because I was like inhaling all that smog and it's like we don't get that much smog here, even though we're in New Jersey. Everybody thinks the air quality is just awful, but it's really not. It's just like in the city parts that are like that.

wendy:

Yeah, because you guys have a lot of beautiful hills and rural areas around Jersey, too Gorgeous driving there to see you.

tiffany:

Yeah, where I live there's a lot of country. I'm not going to say where, but there's a lot of country around me.

wendy:

Well, massachusetts and here goes another one of those fucking sale pitches is number two in the country as far as air quality is concerned.

tiffany:

I think all our listeners know by now that you're a Massachusetts snob.

wendy:

I am, but I've lived in New York, connecticut, florida, and been to like 48 states and it's still my favorite.

tiffany:

Yeah, which is a real prick.

wendy:

But why don't any of us get along with New York?

tiffany:

Well, they're like just fucking impatient pricks. I think that's the problem.

wendy:

I'm definitely an impatient prick, so I don't know if that's the problem.

tiffany:

They're like on a whole nother level, though I think it's just like their nerves are so shot that that's why we don't get along with each other.

wendy:

Well, we do have quite a bit of friends in New York City, but even they'll tell you that shit.

tiffany:

That's true, anyway. So I want to talk about case that we're going to do tonight, but before we do that I want to touch briefly on a cold case that was recently solved, after decades and nothing happened. I have a thing for cold cases getting solved because I believe that eventually, with the advancements of technology, that we will see more and more unsolved cases getting solved. This one hit home to me because I'm such an advocate for women and women's rights. But instead of telling you the ending, I'm just going to tell you the story really quickly.

tiffany:

In 1988, sherwood, oregon, was a small rural community about 3,000 people. Over on the north side there were huge stretches of farmland with back roads that climbed up the hills into southern Beaverton. South of 99 is the downtown area, with quaint shops that ran along four blocks square mile and was surrounded by historical homes. It was a normal day for Deborah Atrops. She finished her shift at Willins and Sherwood, which was a metal fabrication company, and drove to get her hair did. She got her hair did at the Rasmutaz hair salon in Tigard, which I thought was a really cool name for a hair salon.

wendy:

Yeah, sounds like the kind of hair salon you're getting your hair did. Oh, you're getting it did there.

tiffany:

So Deborah was there for about two hours. She was said to have left around 7 pm in a red dress and a blue coat. Finally, after her hair appointment, she was due back to pick up her daughter from her strange husband's home. She would have only taken about 15 or 20 minutes to arrive at his place as she was close by in the neighboring town of Salem. Around 9 pm Robert was worried and decided to call the authorities because it was unlike Deborah to be two hours late coming to pick up her daughter. The police decided to do a welfare check at Deborah's apartment but nothing seemed out of place and nothing indicated that she was leaving for good. Earlier that day, Robert and Deborah left their nine month old with a babysitter. Robert picked up his daughter from Newburgh and came home with his child. Deborah was due to arrive at his place around 8 pm. When she was late he called all her friends and family to see if anyone had seen or talked to her. No one had.

tiffany:

The next morning a group of construction workers noticed a black Honda Accord at the end of Murray Boulevard. They didn't report it because there was no suspicious activity, but it was something that they noted because it was parked on a dead end street. It was backed up against a wooded area, which is why they found it slightly odd that someone would park down that way. On Thursday, December 1st 1988 at 8.45 am, a patrol officer spotted Deborah's cara black Honda Accord parked in that very spot at the end of Murray Boulevard. The police officer was looking for the car because there was a bolo out for that model. A city public works employee reported the car because it looked suspicious. Now this is the second person who saw the car. The officer searched the vehicle and it was abandoned, and when they popped the trunk he was astounded. Inside the body of Deborah Atrop was lying there. She was clothed, but it appeared that she had been deceased. The coroner determined that she was strangled and then placed into the trunk after she was already dead. Although some news reports said that there was no cause of death that could be determined, it was apparent. Someone removed the license plates, the driver's side window was down and the keys were on the driver's seat.

tiffany:

Deborah was born in June of 1958 to a military mother and father. Her father was the one in the military, however, which made her childhood kind of hectic. They were always moving from place to place and from base to base. The family even lived in Guam for quite a little bit before relocating to the Philippines. Eventually, the family relocated to Salem, Oregon. There, Deborah attended South Salem High School. During her senior year of high school, her family relocated to Spokane, Washington. She graduated in Spokane and the next year her family relocated back to Salem.

tiffany:

It was while she was in school that Deborah met Robert Atrop. He had become her high school sweetheart and they eventually married on June 6th in 1987. They moved to Sherwood where Deborah had gotten a job working as a bookkeeper at Welland Industries, and in 1987, Deborah became pregnant and had given birth to their daughter in 1988. For the entire year, it seemed as if the couple were building a life together. They celebrated Deborah's 30th birthday, the anniversary of their marriage and having a new baby. But all the glitters is in gold, however, because shortly after, in July, the couple separated. Deborah and Robert had been separated for five months and she was living in an apartment separate from her husband. Even with the sadness of her failing marriage, Deborah decided to try to move forward in life and started taking courses in accounting at I'm going to try this anska Community College. Aa, Ron, AA, Ron, I think it's Native American. It's C-H-E-M-E-K-E-T-A. I may be wrong, but I don't know. I haven't a hard time saying that, so if you can pronounce it, good for you. So it was a surprise to find Deborah dead after all the beautiful accomplishments that were happening in her life, aside from the separation with her husband. Now back at the scene.

tiffany:

Investigators found out that parents were seen filming their children in the parking lot around the time that Deborah left the hair salon. The hair salon was located in a strip mall with a variety of stores around the hair salon. People were coming and going at 7 pm when she was supposed to be leaving. The police were hoping to catch Deborah in the background of this video to see if maybe she was being followed or if they could see her getting into her car. Police were able to track down the video, but when police viewed the footage it was too grainy to make out what was going on in the background and it didn't show Deborah in the background, so the lead went nowhere. Police went to the media to drum up some new leads and asked if anyone had any information about Deborah to contact the sheriff's office. Unfortunately, no one's seen anything of substance and there is no new leads on the case.

tiffany:

The only witness was Sue Frank. She lived in Sholl's landing apartments, which bordered the dead end road where Deborah's body was found. The night of the murder, Sue was walking her dog when she heard someone running on the pavement. Her dog was alerted and started barking, which gave Sue a very uneasy feeling. She told the media that she figured she'd better go inside. So she rent back to her apartment, but didn't see anyone.

tiffany:

Shortly after, the media failed because a high-profile case came in a public view. Michael Frank, the director of Oregon Department of Corrections, was killed outside of his office the night of January 17, 1989, so this murder took the spotlight in the local news coverage and Deborah's case fell to the wayside. The lack of news coverage had Deborah's mother completely irate, and for good reason, because all of Deborah's news coverage stopped. It seemed like no one cared about her daughter's murder case any longer. She wasn't quiet about it either. She fought to get her daughter back into the spotlight so that maybe the case could be solved.

tiffany:

Detectives with the Washington County District Attorney's Office Cold Case Multidisciplinary Unit that's a mouthful. They reopened the case in 2021, about a year after forming a partnership with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. After the case was opened, police put fresh eyes on it In 2022, the police re-examined the forensic evidence and re-interviewed the witnesses. With advancements in DNA, investigators were able to procure that's such a hard word to say some procure some of it from Deborah's clothing and keys. It was muddy, but it had some traces of DNA from the unidentified male. I'm not sure why the investigators weren't looking into her husband for the crime in 1988.

wendy:

I am sure that Tiffany's excited at this point, because whenever there's that new DNA evidence regarding unsolved cases, she gets a little bit excited, don't ya?

tiffany:

Yeah, I do, because I like science I'm a nerd Anyway, Especially when there are no known enemies of Deborah. Also, I think that the person closest to her would have been a suspect from day one, although most of the time if someone is a person of interest they don't always say so, because you know they don't want to fudge up the investigation.

wendy:

It's really sad when an ex or a partner becomes a suspect and they're wrong. And you know they'd recently separated and they were high school sweethearts too. I would be suspicious.

tiffany:

I mean, I think it's very possible that he was a suspect and they said nothing about it. The way that the news media put it out there again, the news media, this isn't from the person who you know is doing it, this is a third party here. So the way the news media made it seem was as if he wasn't a suspect this whole time. But the cold case unit investigators had procured a search warrant for the DNA of Robert Atrop, so they did. The cold case unit did kind of see him as a suspect be ends at I guess you had no known enemies and searched his home on February 28th at 4am, which I found to be a real smart move on the police's part. Catch him off guard when you know they're sleeping and at home.

wendy:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that was a great idea.

tiffany:

Yeah, because they caught him with his pants down literally. So they did arrest Robert in connection with the murder of his estranged wife, deborah, and he was charged with second degree murder, but his attorney pleaded a plea of not guilty on his behalf. This case has gone unsolved for 34 years. Deborah was 30 years old at the time of her murder and Robert was 34. Robert is currently 68 years old and being held in county jail until his trial, and his trial was set up for June 4th 2024,. So I'm interested to hear what comes out during this trial. And as of right now, all of this is alleged until someone comes out in trial and says he is actually convicted. But I'm thinking they must have linked the DNA, otherwise they wouldn't have made the arrest.

wendy:

Right, that's a long duration of time and since that happened, there have been a lot of stipulations in regards to like falsely arresting people and the lawsuits that ensue.

tiffany:

You know, yeah, so I would assume that they did have some kind of DNA evidence that was strong.

wendy:

Right and he. There must have been something concrete there. It'd be exciting to know what it is.

tiffany:

Yeah Well, the news reports didn't say what kind of DNA was found, so I don't know if it's blood, hair, skin or bodily fluids. But they got it off of the keys so I'm assuming it could be bodily fluids or blood, but I'm not positive. So we'll find out as more unfolds. But this case really had gotten to me because this poor woman was having little nice days to spy after work, excited to see her daughter, only to end up attacked and fucking strangled. Which I always keep an eye on the people closest to me because you know what they say most violent attacks happen by someone you know.

wendy:

That was my first thought regarding her ex-husband.

tiffany:

Oh yeah, me too, as soon as they said that I was like he killed her. But I don't know that. You know, it's alleged, it's alleged.

wendy:

Well, there's some concrete evidence alluding to him having done it, though. Yeah, you know what though it's like, I feel like when a woman you know gets her heart broken and these types of things happen and she glows up, that that enrages some men, and there she is at the salon.

tiffany:

Yeah.

wendy:

Cleaning herself up, glowing herself up, and he's like what the fuck? I was the problem the whole time and I swear that pisses them the fuck off.

tiffany:

Oh yeah, like I totally agree with that, because they do get pissed off when you glow up after a breakup because they figure your whole world should just fucking fall apart because they're not part of it anymore and it's like you're not that important, babe, and then you end up being the one at the other end of their ego problem.

wendy:

Yes, yes. And when you said she went to the salon and she got her hair did for a couple of hours, she probably looked amazing when she left that place. She was probably feeling great about herself.

tiffany:

Yeah. But, I mean if he had killed her. I mean sometimes I wonder, like, was there abuse in the relationship prior to this, you know, is that why she left? Like who?

wendy:

knows. I mean it must have taken something really profound to get her to like say that's it, I've had enough, I'm out of here.

tiffany:

Yeah for sure I'm going to move on from the Deborah Atrop's case because this is the case that we're going to talk about tonight, and this is the heart breaking case of Tristan Bailey. This happened on Mother's Day on May 9th of 2021. This was the worst Mother's Day of all for Tristan Bailey's mother, who had put out a missing persons report on her daughter. Around 10am that day at the St John's County Sheriff's Office they announced to the media that they were looking for Tristan. Police told the media, 13 year old Tristan was last seen the same day at 115am at the Durbin Amenity Center. Tristan was wearing a cheerleader skirt and a dark colored shirt. A missing child alert was put out because police didn't know if she had been abducted but believed that she was in danger.

tiffany:

A search ensued, canvassing the area. Police questioned residents, including Aidan Fucci. When Aidan was interviewed by the police, he said that he was at his friend Trace House until 115am. Then he said they left around 3.30am to go back to his home on Castledale Court. He tells the officer you see that brick wall over there. That's where she touched my dick and I pushed her off me real hard and then I walked away out of anger. He tells officers that he last seen her down the long path that goes into the woods where kids hang out to smoke weed and do acid. The officer says that they will try to locate her down this path and get back to him.

tiffany:

Police were able to locate the body of a girl at 6pm After a man who was running through the woods noticed a body near a retention pond. The girl's body was identified as Tristan and it was 80 feet from the retention pond in a wooded area at the end of a cul-de-sac in the immediate area that she went missing. She was found lying on her side, splayed out, with her pink Victoria's Secret shirt, Nike sweatpants and white vans on. Her blonde hair was matted with dried blood and she had holes in her shirt that showed signs of sharp-forced trauma. At the scene, police found a power-eat bottle, cigarette butts and a shoe impression near her body. She was found stabbed 114 fucking times. That is a lot.

wendy:

We've had this conversation about that type of sharp force trauma, even the blunt force trauma, and that's just so much. That's.

tiffany:

Yeah, that's a lot Like. 114 times is a long time.

wendy:

That has to be a record on our podcast.

tiffany:

Yeah, I'm not sure. I think we did have one. That was more of that. I'm not sure, or did we not? I'm not sure. I'd have to look back on that. It is up there.

tiffany:

Tristan Bailey was born on January 18th 2008. She was one of five children of Stacey and Forest Bailey. She lived in Durbin Crossing in the northwest St Johns County and was a student and cheerleader at Patriot Oaks Academy. She was adored by her grandparents, had a close relationship with her mother, Stacey. Tristan was also close with her four siblings and was always tagging along with them. When anyone had something cool to do, Tristan was there.

tiffany:

Tristan and her older sister, Brittany, were best friends, Even though they were 16 years apart. Tristan and her sister, Alexis shared a deep love for animals. As an older brother, the family said Teagan brought out Tristan's serious side because they shared conversations about goals and aspirations and brainstormed how to achieve them. She was also involved in competitive cheer and was an encouraging light for her teammates. She was willing to take one for the team as she would volunteer to fill in for her injured teammates. Her family said that she was a constant friendly voice for her classmates as she excelled in making connections and inspiring others. Despite her age, Tristan could relate to older people, Something that she learned through a close knit bond with her mother. The family of seven called themselves the Bailey Seven, which was so sweet. They seemed like a lovely, close knit family.

wendy:

That's adorable and I absolutely love old souls and young bodies that do that, that embrace that wisdom.

tiffany:

Yeah me too. I think it's phenomenal because I always had older friends. They used to call me an old soul because I hung out with them and I could be on the same level mentally with a lot of them and I feel like that's kind of how she was. You know, yeah, tristan's cell phone records were requested from AT&T and they had shown that her cell phone pinged near a wooded area near her home and that was the last incoming call and that was from a boy named Aiden Fucci. On the night of Tristan's death, tray said he was grounded.

tiffany:

On Saturday night Aiden Fucci and Tray smoked some pot outside of the house. Tray brought up Tristan and he called her to come over. She was kind of hesitant, so Aiden called her up and convinced her to leave because she was scared to sneak out. The two hung out a while. Tray fell asleep. He woke up and told Tristan and Aiden that they had to leave because it was getting really late. Earlier Tray let Aiden use his hoodie because it was cold outside. When Aiden left he left in a hoodie, sweatpants and Nike high tops.

tiffany:

This was very eerie and it brought tears of fear to my eyes because statistically you were most likely to be murdered by somebody you know which I just said like. In the last case, what seems like a video of a boy walking a girl home was caught on a neighbor's ring camera. The video shows two people, believed to be Aiden and Tristan, walking east on Saddle Stone Drive, which was near the area where her body was later found, towards the end of the retention pond. Then, about an hour and 45 minutes later, the same ring camera catches Aiden heading back running full speed, barefoot, carrying his shoes.

tiffany:

I watched this footage I shit you not About six times and my insides were turning. I kept saying to myself just run away, tristan, just run away. He was like walking her like a lamb to the slaughter and that really fucking ate me up inside, because in her mind she's like walking with a trusted friend and all he is thinking is the horrible shit he's planning on doing with her fucking body for his own twisted desires. The most terrifying thing about it is that these are two children. You don't expect your 14 year old friends to want to murder you while you're innocently walking home.

wendy:

I'm just taken aback by how young and innocent I'm perceiving them to be until this point. Like that would just terrify me though. Yeah, with another 14 year old kid, for that matter. Like I didn't hang around a lot of kids who are my age, but I definitely trusted that I was safe around the younger ones. Some of the sketchy older ones I was partying with were questionable, but you just don't think that. You would never even assume that.

tiffany:

No, like I would never assume that my 14 year old friend would even think to kill me. 14 years old, I didn't even think that the world was bad yet.

wendy:

Well, I mean, I certainly did, but I'll tell you, I looked at kids that were my age at that time and I know it sounds like a superior complex and I don't mean it too, but I was very mature for my age, which is why I had a fake ID and hung around with so many adults. I looked at them like kids, not even the weirdest and freakiest and most fucked up friends, which I hung around with all the weirdos in school because I loved them. I couldn't mention them doing those types of things.

tiffany:

Yeah, it was rumored that there was a 22 year old drug dealer that supposedly had contact with Tristan that night. His name was Carlo. When they tracked down Carlo, police realized this man's truck had been broken down and it was far enough away that it wouldn't have been likely that he met up with the pair to do any kind of drug deal that night. So eventually Carlo was excluded from the investigation. Monday, may 10th 2021, a 14 year old, aiden Fucci, was arrested in connection with Tristan's death. When he was arrested, ada made a Snapchat post where he was holding up a peace sign in the back of the patrol car. He said on the Snapchat post has anyone seen Tristan lately? That little fucker? Oh, I know. And he had this huge shitty ingrin on his face too, which made me want to punch him in it.

tiffany:

And on Snapchat of all childish places to do that Someone responded to his story saying you were with her, aiden, you know what happened to her. The message sent shivers down my spine, knowing a 14 year old would be acting like this. I mean, I expect it from grown men, but not as much from like a literal child. He also posted a snap video from the patrol car in which he said guess who's in a cop car? Guys tripping dude, which shows his mental capacity. And that, right there, shows how immature this little shit is. Because he's a teen he doesn't understand the consequences of his actions yet.

tiffany:

But I've heard psychologists talk about children who commit crimes like murder and rape. The hormones, the emotional immaturity causes a detachment from consequences of real life. Situations Like when I was a kid, for instance. There were kids who were abused or entitled or just trying to be cool. They committed violent acts against other classmates that we water down just by calling it bullying instead of calling it words like assault or violence.

tiffany:

Tristan's autopsy had shown that of her 114 stab wounds, that 43 of them were defensive wounds. She had slashes and stabs in the head, neck, shoulders, arms and back. Most of the stab wounds came from an above downward angle, concentrated on the head and the back, which suggests that she was surprised and didn't see it coming. What really messed me up was that her hands had penetrating stab wounds and the autopsy stated that she would have been holding onto a hard object like her skull when they were coming down on her hands, which is a defensive pose. When Aiden was arrested, his face was covered in scratches. He had cuts and scratches and bruises on his forehead, under his eye, on his cheeks and before Aiden was taken to the station and interrogated a second time while in the patrol car and read his Miranda rights twice because he said he didn't understand them at first.

tiffany:

Aiden tells the officer that he didn't want to talk to the police and the interview was ended. The police informed him that they were taking his phone and they throw it in the front seat and Aiden's like cuffed in the backseat of the patrol car and he starts screaming through the glass and when the officers leave him alone in the car he's like hey, siri, text, dream girl that they took my phone and I love you. And then he says stick with me through this and he sends that message and then a couple other stupid things to her. But basically he was like letting his girlfriend know what was going on and he was smart enough to use Siri because he couldn't physically text on the phone because they took it from him, but he was caught on the camera in the car so he was, you know, obviously not thinking properly.

tiffany:

Dream girl is his girlfriend, zofi, and he was dating her in school, but I doubt she'll be sticking with them through his incarceration. So sorry, buddy. After Aiden said he didn't want to talk anymore, his parents were present for the interview process. They lawyer it up and didn't want Aiden to say anything else to the police. What they didn't think about is how pressure, nervousness and video cameras make keeping secrets extremely hard in police stations.

wendy:

I am a mother, but I swear to you, if my kids fuck up, I let them know they're fucking up. Accountability is important. It is.

tiffany:

But like, at the same time, I'm like I'm like, well, you know, I can see them like sticking by him and trying to help because it is their son. They didn't deny anything, but I'll get to that and I'll tell you what they said in the interview room. Okay, so Aiden's parents interviewed Aiden while he was in the interrogation room, which was all on footage. Aiden was asked about Tristan. He placed Koi and says something like where is she or is she? Okay, it was hard to make out from the audio. And his father says no, she's dead. And Aiden says well, that's not my problem. His father tells him he was the last person to have seen her alive. So, yeah, it pretty much was his problem. Then his mother chimes in with the Snapchat videos, saying that that wasn't smart and that everything he says he needs to think long and hard before saying it. Also, that now these Snapchats are all over the internet, alluding that they would be used against Aiden in court proceedings. He tells his parents that Tristan took off with some dude after he hung out with her and that Aiden says he never turned around or looked back to see where the two went. Aiden also said that he and his friend both kissed Tristan and that he was just out hanging with his friend before they met up with her. Both his mother and father were going back and forth trying to work out the story and reminding him that he has to give the same answers he was giving to them, to the police, and at one point his mother said are you sure you were wearing jeans? And she leans in and whispers blood and then says in the video, you were wearing khakis, trying to convince him that he was wearing different pants than he had previously stated to the police.

tiffany:

In the retention pond near where they found Tristan's body, they also found the murder weapon. It was a buck knife. And get this. She was stabbed so brutally that the tip was broken off. This is a 14 year old boy who had enough violence and rage inside of him to manage to break the tip off of a fucking buck knife, which is not an easy feat. The matching tip of the knife was found lodged in Tristan's skull. I'm like infuriated. This isn't infuriating.

tiffany:

Shaila was a friend of Trace and Tristan's and told police that she never liked Aiden. She stated that Aiden was the textbook definition of what you would call a numb kid. He had no feelings towards anyone no feelings towards himself and Aiden's eyes always appeared glossy and that they didn't have any meaning in him. That's how she described him. Aiden is a type of person that you would see as a murderer. He just didn't care.

tiffany:

As I'm sure you already know, not much is known about Aiden's past because he was a minor and all I could find is that he had problems with his behavior in school. But the records were sealed. He was born in November of 2006 and it says that he was a. He is a Scorpio, so sorry, scorpios. I was able to dig up stuff about his family, which gives you a better picture of the household that he was raised in. In 2003, aiden's father, jason, was accused of child neglect, injury and abuse. The same year, he was also arrested for engaging in a what's in sexual activity with a 15 year old. I hate it when they say it like that If you're under the age of 18, it's rape. Let's get that straight Sexual activity.

wendy:

Amen, yeah, I'm not about that. Map life, no, in 2004,.

tiffany:

Jason was found guilty of the child abuse charges and found guilty of the sexual allegations, so he was sentenced to a few months and two years of probation altogether. In 2016, jason was also arrested again for a fight with a couple that ensued at a gas station while his son was with him, so his son witnessed this whole debacle. Even though Aiden's father was bad news, he did have a stepfather who seemed a little more stable. On May 11th 2021, during Aiden's arraignment, he was charged with second degree murder. The state attorney had to make a final decision on whether or not he would be charged as an adult, but in the meantime, he was held in juvenile detention for 21 days until his hearing. May 18th 2021, tristan's family held a celebration of life at the celebration church in Jacksonville. The people in attendance honored Tristan by wearing aqua and white, which were Tristan's favorite colors, and I could see that, because those are the colors that remind me of the ocean, and I love the ocean.

wendy:

One of the things that have really stood loud to me was how he was described by his fellow classmate.

tiffany:

Oh yeah, I know, numb kid, that was a weird use of phrasing.

wendy:

It was, and it was profoundly observant and well said for somebody that young.

tiffany:

Yeah, it was, and I watched all those videos and they recorded all the videos because these kids were sitting in that cop car and these videos were long, but they were very, very interesting.

wendy:

You know the way that you described her family, how loving and how bright and all of them were, and how he was the polar opposite. You've seen these situations like play out with adults, where somebody bright is hated by somebody dim like him, and that seems to be how the two of them were described. One of them was like a beacon of light and the other one was apathetic and dim. Yeah, exactly.

tiffany:

You can tell the difference between the two Like she seemed like she was bright and beautiful and she had a nice family life and everybody seemed like like they really loved her. She seemed like an innocent kind of girl. See her like being a 14 year old kid, because her Victoria's secret pink and the Nikes and the wet pants and everything like it's all the kind of shit that I would wear when I was like 14 years old, and like she just reminded me of such an innocent young youth. You know she didn't want to sneak out of her parents house because she was scared she was going to get in trouble.

wendy:

Yeah, and you know it's. It's a really sad story because of both of them being as young as they were.

tiffany:

Yeah, it is On May 27th 2021, it was ruled that Aiden would be tried as an adult and his charges were upgraded to murder in the first degree, with the death penalty possibly on the table. Aiden claims not guilty during the hearing and was set to have another arraignment on the 10th of June. While Aiden was in jail, he was off the chain. No, aiden, reportedly, was threatening to hurt and murder correctional officers and other inmates, and during a live stream court, he was heard mumbling about demons and acting erratic. On June 5th 2021, aiden's mother, crystal Smith, was arrested after she turned herself in for tampering with evidence. It was found out that she had washed his bloody jeans, knowing fully well that they had Tristan's blood on him, which is why she said that in the interview room. So this is what happened. Crystal was present when Aiden was being interviewed on May 9th and after her son left with deputies, she was caught by her own surveillance camera cameras like the ones that she had in the house Going into Aiden's room, grabbing his jeans, then taking him into the bathroom and scrubbing him clean in the bathroom sink. A couple of hours later, crystal was seen on camera returning to Aiden's room. When the police searched his room, they found the jeans and they tested positive for blood. The drain in the bathroom was tested and it was also positive for blood. And they found the sheath that belonged to the buck knife. That was the murder weapon. They found a notebook with violent drawings and, of course, his cell phone records and text messages, which I referenced earlier. Just to give you an idea of what kind of drawings were in that book, because I was curious about it myself. I looked them up on the internet. I was able to find one of them and in the picture you could see a guy with wide eyes and a mouthful of teeth and he's standing there with a knife in his hand and a pool of blood, and on the character's forehead there's an upside down Baphomet pentagram in the style of Richard Ramirez, if you need a visual.

tiffany:

During Aiden's trial, his ex-girlfriend Zofi testified and she said Aiden was a really tough kid who had a lot of issues. I know he had a rough time at home and he would talk about that a lot. His mom would tell him that he was a disappointment to the family and that he was neglected. He felt like he was the least favorite of his family and that his dad, jason, would hit him sometimes. He had anger issues and hated getting angry. He hated doing things he didn't mean to do when he was angry, but he never had done anything to Zofi. She said that she saw him get angry with other people but only seen him act violent once. Trey and Aiden were best friends and pretty much trauma bonded over their turbulent pasts. That's all the things she said. That it's all I have in one paragraph here, and most of those are quoted, although I did paraphrase a little bit of that.

tiffany:

Zofi said that Aiden talked about killing people a lot. She said that she never took him seriously, but he told Zofi that he wanted to murder her On occasion. He would stalk her, creep up from behind her and pretend to slit her throat with his knife, which is fucking terrifying. She said that he had a dark sense of humor and that she trusted him, so she didn't think he would ever hurt her. But one day they were up on the roof and he asked Zofi, what would you do if I murdered somebody? And he said he would walk at night and find a random person, drag them into the woods and stab them. And he told Zofi to expect it within the month and it would happen soon.

tiffany:

Now, if a friend tells you that they have a whole ass plan to murder somebody and it's going to happen in a time period, please fucking tell your parents or the authorities or somebody, because those are the kind of things that you should take seriously. I'm not blaming Zofi because they had some kind of dark humor or whatever, and what's done is done and you can't change anything. So I want to make that very clear that there's nothing wrong with her thinking that it was a joke or whatever. But I'm just saying for future reference, for other people and other situations. If you hear somebody sitting there talking about how they might murder somebody, fucking tell somebody, please tell somebody.

wendy:

Yeah, preventive maintenance is the best course of action in one of these situations and at the very least, he could have gotten a psycho evaluation. And who knows, situations like this could be better avoided if at least somebody's aware and can look at these red flags, because you have to be able to diagnose the situation in order to fix it or prevent it. Whether it's serious or not, whether you perceive it to be serious or not is not really I can see there. You know I'll kill you and you know coming behind or you know pretending and role-playing and all that type of dark fan fantastical shit. But yes, like you said, if somebody says within this month, I'm going to conjure up this fucking plan and execute it, you need to let somebody know. I mean, if you're in a situation like that, because what might not seem serious could end up turning into a bloodbath, like this one Exactly.

tiffany:

The Sheriff's Office incident reports documented multiple instances of Aiden getting into fights, having contraband, bullying inmates out of their contra commissary items, threatening them and being combative with guards and making threats against them, which that part we already talked about earlier. He had to be pepper sprayed and restrained on more than one occasion. An inmate also said that Aiden said that he was real because he stabbed a girl face to face, unlike others who resorted to shooting somebody. Tristan's older sister, alexis, brought a jar with her into court and she set it down on the stand. Now, this was really fucked. This really fucked me up.

tiffany:

She dropped 114 stones, one at a time, which took almost three minutes. I counted for the 114 stab wounds that were inflicted on her beloved sister. She mentioned Aiden running from the woods in his bare feet, stating that he could show compassion for his feet hurting, but left none for her sister. Did she see you coming at her with a knife, or did you stab her while she wasn't paying attention? She went on with more questions that she had, thinking about her sister's death. The memories of May 9th will forever be ingrained in my mind, body and soul. Alexis's statements were very powerful and, like I said, had me in tears.

wendy:

You said earlier that her sister was what? 16 years older than her.

tiffany:

Yeah, this is the oldest one yeah, oh god.

wendy:

I could never imagine I like worship my little sister. In fact, I was with her today, as you know, and I could never wrap my mind around 16 years of steep too. You're almost old enough to be the kid's mother.

tiffany:

Exactly, so it probably hits you different, you know.

wendy:

Yeah, it's like you've got a combination of maternal instincts and a sister's ship in those situations and I feel for her sober profoundly. That's intense it is.

tiffany:

Each one of Tristan's siblings dropped a stone into the jars. They read their statements to Aidan. They were heartbreaking. I was crying while listening to them because of how senseless it was for Tristan to die, but also because, woo, now I'm doing it. I'm doing it. Now I'm crying. I'm actually a tear hearer right here too, oh man but also because sorry, but also because there was no motivation to want her dead other than just wanting to see what it was like to kill someone. The family was obviously devastated at the loss, but it was nice to hear the impact statements because they were really heartfelt even in such a horrible situation. If you want to hear them, they are available online. I'm not going to read them because I really don't want to cry again, but I'll post a link if anyone is interested in breaking their own heart.

tiffany:

March 24th 2023, Aiden was sentenced to life in prison at 14 years old. So he was given 40 years without the possibility of parole, but because of his age, in 25 years they can resentence him, so at least he'll spend 25 years. That boy doesn't need to be out until he's fully emotionally mature, because I could see this happening again. So I'm glad he has to spend a minimum of 25 years in prison, and if he gets out in 25, he will be 39 years old.

wendy:

He sounds like a rascally thing inside prison too. So if he even makes it that far, I mean bullies like him, and you know and I've mentioned this sooner in this week in a thread that I wrote about they tend to prey upon the weak, but then when they end up in situations where there are real bad asses surrounding them and they try to be the same way, it doesn't usually pay an out very well for them.

tiffany:

No, not at all, especially when you've got a bunch of violent criminals around you all day long.

wendy:

Mm-hmm. He's either gonna have to toughen up and wisen up or he's just gonna end up. He's gonna de-dead himself. Honestly.

tiffany:

Don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't cash.

wendy:

Damn fucking right. I mean she was just a sweet fish women in the water and he was a violent shark fucking her up. But he's gonna be around bigger and better sharks in there.

tiffany:

Yeah, it's a lot different when you're a wolf around a bunch of sheep, you know, and now that you're around a bunch of other fucking wolves, shit's gonna get real.

wendy:

Tiff wants to be in the woods, I want to be in the ocean. We ain't the same right now.

tiffany:

I don't want to be in the woods. You know what scares me about the fucking woods? It's like we're gonna go out in the woods and we're gonna go hiking and everything. We're gonna take a vacation to the Poconos and when I was staying, when I stayed in Maine, it was the scariest shit ever, because you're just so vulnerable to like all the wildlife, like bears and fucking moose and all kinds of other shit they don't have moose in the Poconos, but I know they do have a bear and shit in cooters. But when you look out the windows it's fucking pitch black and I just like, I just imagine like somebody coming out of the fucking woods, out of the darkness, like trying to murder me out there, and it scares the ever living shit out of you. I watch too many fucking horror movies and watch too many of these true crime shows.

wendy:

If you scream, nobody hears you. Exactly.

tiffany:

Like that's terrifying.

wendy:

It is. It's also kind of endearing because I've wondered, you know, if I went out in the middle of the woods and had sex. I mean far enough out where nobody can hear you scream if you're getting murdered. Same thing with sex. It's like I wonder if I like went out here and I just let that all out like, oh my god, yeah, you know it is. And Tiffany has been like very bittersweet about coming on her vacation for that reason.

tiffany:

I know it scares the shit out of me and Tiffany never.

wendy:

She never lets me know she's scared, because you know she's a pretty fucking tough bitch. But I got to hear she was scared and I'm like what, tiff huh, it's that murder scene. You know, the cabin in the woods.

tiffany:

Yeah, pretty much. That's what it reminds me of, and I'll let you know any crazy stories that happen when I come back. Let us all know, tiff. Oh, I will Judge. R Lee Smith, in his sentencing, said Tristan Bailey suffered a painful, horrifying death from someone that she trusted. He also said that the crime had no motive and that it was heinous, atrocious and cruel.

tiffany:

Aidan did write an apology letter to the family of Tristan, but didn't read it to the court. Instead, he submitted it directly on paper and he wrote First off, I want to say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for all the pain I caused to the Bailey family. I'm sorry to the friends, brothers, sisters, mom, dad and any other family relatives. I'm sorry that you didn't get to know her that long. You did not have any long relationships with Tristan and for that I am sorry. First off, nobody gives a fuck if you're sorry, because it's too fucking late. You, piece of shit. And Crystal, aidan's mother pleaded no contest on May 12th 2023, and worked out a deal to only serve 30 days in jail for tampering with evidence and will also receive a five-year probation. And that is the case of Tristan Bailey.

wendy:

That was both heartbreaking and somewhat victorious, especially with the mother getting in trouble for tampering with evidence. Yeah, I'm glad they caught her ass. Yeah, you know what I have really had it's a huge pet peeve of mine, as I was trying to say earlier, for mothers to just allow their children to go unaccountable for their actions, and I swear to it. I know that Bart tells me that I'm the kind of mom who allows my kids to get away with more shit than any other human beings on earth, and that is true. But that doesn't mean by any means not even a fraction of our hair that I will not hold them fucking responsible for what they do. And if I knew my kid was capable of stabbing somebody that many times, to the point. A buckknife is fucking dull. There's no get out of jail free card there. I'm like motherfucker, you are gonna they would do prison and I would visit them in prison. Yes, but they would still do it.

tiffany:

Sorry, I have my shit on mute and I'm sitting here talking away like a jerk.

wendy:

I'm like Bart hello.

tiffany:

Anyway, um, I forget what the fuck I was saying. Now wait, oh, oh. So I said yes, I concur, and also I get it, because the child was 14 years old, so I could see how she doesn't want him to ruin his life and all that, but like at the same time he should be held accountable because he's obviously needs some kind of fucking mental help.

wendy:

He ruined their lives, and that's the issue that I would have with it. Like I love my children unconditionally, but that doesn't mean that I think their lives are more valuable than somebody else's child's life, exactly, you know, because that's the objective way of thinking, I could never be in a horse-blinding subjective coma where I'd be like, well, my kid's 14, and maybe they won't do it again, and maybe, if I just like fuck with the evidence a little bit, it'll let him off easy. No, your child doesn't deserve to be let off easy. He just stabbed a beautiful woman to be someday Over a hundred fucking times. He didn't even regret it after the tenth time.

tiffany:

No, especially when he's back in the back of the cop car sitting there throwing up peace signs like oh where's Tristan? Ho, ho, ho, it's like it's not cute, you little fuck.

wendy:

Like there's no repercussion, you know?

tiffany:

Yeah, and like I'm glad that they found him guilty as an adult because, like I said, he's mentally unstable, like he needs mental help. He needs to be in prison until he's either gone through his hormone changes or received the type of mental help that he needs behind bars. He needs to be rehabilitated, which I don't even know if that's possible, if he's been fantasizing about it, because who knows if he's a sociopath or not?

wendy:

I mean, if he is, then there's no fix in that It'd be interesting to see how he pans out as an adult. Yeah, it would be.

tiffany:

I hope that he isn't a sociopath and that he is able to be rehabilitated, because he will eventually be back out on the street at some point. By the time he's back out on the street, though, I'll probably be dead by then.

wendy:

Unless they come up with better strategies for like back pain and things like that. I hope I am.

tiffany:

Yeah right.

wendy:

Emotionally intense and mind fucking all together in the same package. Thanks for that research girl. Oh, no problem.
