Ervil Lebaron's reign of terror in the "Lamb of God" cult Part 1
Ervil Lebaron, Joel and Verlan start a fundamentalist mormon polygamous cult called the Kingdom of God. Joel is the new prophet and is beloved by his followers. The three brothers grow the cult by recruiting members and having a LOT of children. The cult goes from a few hundred to over 1000 members. But envious of Joel's power, Ervil becomes determined to take the cult for himself.
Eventually the tension became too great between the two brothers and they split into two separate sects. Joel had taken 900 followers with him to another compound, while Ervil took his 100 followers and had to start all over from the beginning. To Ervil this split was a slight on him. So he decided Joel had to pay for his sins... with blood....
Join Wendy and I as we discuss the premise of the Hulu docu-series "daughters of the cult" and tell you about what cult life was like for the Lebaron children, how they feared and loved their blood thirsty cult leader and how he convinced them to carry out over 30 murders in the name of "god".
